"Mommy, I'm making something for you. It's so beautiful; when you see it you will cry."

Me: "Is that what people do when they see something beautiful?"
"Yes, tears of joy."
Age 5 years, 3 mos.

She was remaking the word "LOVE" which she recently destroyed on my office cork board. She told me to pretend that she made it and to act surprised when I saw it.

I actually took this photo for the New York Times Lens Photo Blog for their Moment In Time Project where thousands of people around the world took a photo at the exact same time about 2 weeks ago. All of the photos were published; you can see them here. This photo is my entry to I Heart Faces weekly contest where the theme is Faces & Flowers. Please check out their web-site at www.iheartfaces.com and all of the other entries.

Hello whoever is out there...so, my blog has this feature called Blogshow and I want to check out how it works. So, I have a few more photos of Tulips that I thought I would use to see how it works. It has been quite a busy week for me. I have been scouring the blogs for my cousin's company Ninebird Publishing. It is a great photo card company, they also do very cool photo books, posters, tickets, postcards, recipe cards - just about anything you'd want to add a photo to; and they make it really easy. Anyway, I've been looking at all kinds of blogs all week; to see if they would be good for marketing for Ninebird; and this is not as easy as it sounds because there is a lot of record keeping involved besides checking out the blogs. Also, I might say, there are some AWESOME blogs out there and some amazingly talented ladies (mostly ladies anyway). Ninebird hasn't officially launched launched yet; I'm sure I'll be talking more about that in the future.
Be good to yourself.

I now have an official blog. I've actually had this site for a while now; I just never took the time to figure it out and actually write. Today, I decided to write. Yay me :) My life has been in a strange kind of limbo for a while now. Some bad stuff happened with my old business partners and the business failed. I had quite a tough time with that. I was discouraged for a long time, I still am in many ways. I wanted to do something totally else. I've been playing with photography. I don't know if playing is the right word actually. I've been working on learning all I can about photography, practicing taking photos, learning photoshop and lightroom, post processing photos, learning the business of photography and taking a LONNNNNNG time to decide if I want to be in that business. I do love it.
I love it enough that I got myself a cute logo, a web-site (still under construction), a blog, business cards, etc. I've invested time and money into education and equipment. I think I need to take some more steps forward. So hopefully, I'll find some people to encourage me along the way. I'll try to keep this blog updated with interesting things to keep you coming back. Please feel free to leave a comment or note to let me know you stopped by.
Since no post is complete without a photo, the photo above a close up of some tulips I got for Valentine's Day. I took it with my 100mm macro lens outside, 100 ISO, 1/200 sec @ f/2.8. If you have any questions about photography, Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom please let me know and I'll do my best to answer them.
Be good to yourself.
